Also the mounting holes (for bolts) where mostly oval and oversize. Then again, Ive not actually fixed this down. Ive even had to stop using the nice screened (and very stiff) lead I put together as it distorts the top plate in use. This fits under the top plate and is used to screen all the RF sensitive areas. The top plate I feel is too thin for the job and the Hammond screening box is almost essential to add some stability to this. I think however the two biggest issues for me were not the electronics, but the top plate and sides. I found the check-off process a bit onerous, with all those components bundled in the same bag as I checked and sorted them, I taped the ends of groups of resistor together like a kind of magazine and wrote the values on the tape for easy picking/sorting later. However, it did get confusing with the transformer change and the one I received didnt agree with any of the pictures or descriptions, with terminals transposed and so on.

The manual gives confidence and is well written and understandable, even for the total novice. I thought Id just add some thoughts about the kit itself. When the kit turned up a few weeks later, I instantly had second thoughts, all those bits laid out, the thoughts going through my mind was how was I ever going to do this? and this is not for an absolute beginner but sometime spent with the manual and Wardswebs site rekindled my confidence and I was going to go for it. The Bottlehead products do come with quite an enviable reputation and lurking on the forum let me know there were no problems that couldnt be overcome so following some encouragement from forum members, an order was placed. On the end is a pair of Revolver R33s 2 way stand-mount speakers. This runs into an Eastern Electric MiniMax preamp, which is used to bypass the pre section of my CR Developments Romulus 6L6WGC based PP integrated amplifier.
My current phono-stage is a TAG McLaren PPA20 (revered by some, but reviled by others) I use an SME 20/2 turntable, fitted with an SME V arm and Dynavector 10x5 high output MC cartridge.
The reason for choosing the Seduction in the first place was that ī: - the only bit of non-valve (tube) gear in the amplification chain is my phono-stage.Ĭ: - it was the cheapest option, for a real kit.
I did promise after posting some pictures of my completed Seduction a review (?) of how I found the DIY process, this being my first kit and how the unit performs.
